I’m back folks, and the move across town has been completed!!  I now reside in Oro Valley, just north of Tucson.  I was living in the northeast part of Tucson (Catalina Foothills) before.  I’m very close to a great hike now, Pusch peak, which goes from 2700′ to 5350′ (823m-1631m) in elevation in less than two miles (3.2km), that’s …

Well folks, I’m in the process of moving to a new home old apartment, so I won’t be posting any updates for the next two weeks.  The good news is there will be different landscaping and scenery at the new place, so images in the upcoming lens reviews will be fresh and exciting, instead of the all-to-familiar yellow and …

I went ahead with the Sony DT 50mm F/1.8 SAM review, because it’s new, and seemed more exciting than the Minolta AF 28-135mm, I guess that one will be next.  I compared the new lens to the Sony 50mm F/1.4, and have a few surprises (or not) in the bonus section at the bottom, and in the conclusion.  This …

The little Minolta AF 100mm F/2 review is complete.  This late 1980s lens offers surprising performance in a small package, and would be a very good lens even by today’s standards, maybe another reason not to spend more money on new Sony stuff.  It doesn’t quite match the wide open sharpness of the more expensive Sony 135mm F/1.8 CZ

The new Sony 70-400mm F/4-5.6 review is ready for scrutiny.  It’s a long one, partly because I threw in a bonus section which includes tele-converter use and recommendations, also some comparisons with the 70-300mm, at 300mm.  I also show how it stacks up against the Sony 500mm reflex lens when I upsize the 70-400mm image to match the 500mm …
